Finland & Estonia: My Best Trip So Far โ„๏ธ๐ŸŽ„

Some trips stay with you โ€” not because of how far you go, but because of how deeply you feel.

Estonia and Finland in December were that for me. Like a snow globe come to life. My best trip so far.

It was a journey wrapped in stillness, fairy-tale snowfall, and slow, meaningful wonder โ€” the kind of magic that doesnโ€™t shout, it gently lingers. Like snowflakes on a warm coat. Like quiet joy.

Our journey began in Tallinn and Helsinki โ€” two cities that felt like they had stepped right out of a Hallmark movie.

And then the real magic happenedโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ In Tallinn & Helsinki โ€” two capitals, one winter dream:

โ„๏ธ Cobblestone lanes lined with fairy lights,

๐Ÿฐ Ancient towers, dreamy spires, and snow-covered churches,

๐ŸŽ„ A Christmas market straight out of a postcard, with

๐Ÿฅœ The scent of roasted nuts and

๐Ÿท Steam rising from mugs of mulled wine,

โ›ช And the quiet calm of stone-carved cathedrals and snowy parks.

๐ŸŽ„ Christmas Markets โ€” Magic in the Air

The Christmas markets in both cities were everything Iโ€™d dreamed of โ€” and more.

Wooden stalls lit by fairy lights. Mugs of steaming glรถgi and hot chocolate.

Handmade gifts, woollen mittens, and the scent of pine, cinnamon, and stories.

A bright red Santa Claus postbox stood ready for your letters, while choirs and soft carols echoed through the snow-dusted air.

It didnโ€™t feel touristy โ€” it felt like joy.

Honest, warm, and lit from within.

๐Ÿ’ง Jรคgala Waterfalls โ€” When Silence Froze

Just outside Tallinn, we stood before the Jรคgala Waterfalls โ€” a natural wonder caught mid-breath.

Icicles hung from black rock like frozen teeth. The river below stood still, the sound muted.

It was one of the quietest, most haunting places Iโ€™ve ever seen โ€” like winter itself had paused for reflection.

A waterfall, frozen in time.

A moment, carved in ice.

๐ŸŒŒโ„๏ธ Northern Lights & A Night in a Glass Igloo โ€” Magic Under Arctic Skies

In Rovaniemi, I went chasing the Aurora Borealis, wrapped in thermal layers and quiet hope.

I didnโ€™t know if weโ€™d find it. But we did.

The sky opened โ€” waves of green , red, gold, lights rippled like breath. For those few minutes, nothing else existed.

Time melted. Words failed.

Later that night, I returned to a glass igloo, tucked near the Arctic Circle.

From the warmth of my bed, I looked up at that same winter sky โ€” stars above, snow below, and silence all around.

No signal. No sound. No distractions.

Just wonder.

I didnโ€™t just see the stars.

I slept under them.

๐Ÿšข Sampo Icebreaker โ€” Walking on a Frozen Sea

In Kemi, we boarded the Sampo Icebreaker โ€” a beast like ship cutting through the frozen Gulf of Bothnia.

The cold was sharp, the sky endless, the silence vast.

And then, the moment: I floated in the Arctic water.

Wearing a survival suit, bobbing between slabs of ice, I felt both impossibly small and deeply alive.

It was surreal. Beautiful. Completely unforgettable.

This wasnโ€™t just a trip โ€” it was a postcard of a feeling.

Of stillness. Of awe.

Of quiet joy that doesnโ€™t need to prove anything.

Let Finland and Estonia stay with you, the way they stayed with me. โค๏ธโค๏ธ
